Linebacker Peter Sirmon admitted Monday that he was still quite sore at the beginning of the week last week when it was first suggested that he might have a chance to play against Carolina.

But as the week progressed, Sirmon, who first suffered the injury Sept. 28 at Pittsburgh, kept testing his injured back in practice and the pain continued to lessen.

By game time Sunday, Sirmon was not only able to play with the two transverse process bone fractures in his back, he was excelling on the field.

Sirmon was credited with 12 tackles Sunday and played a big part in the Titans shutting down the Panthers run game, holding them to just 44 yards.
