Sorry, Titans: Holt decision might not come soon

It appears that Torry Holt won’t be visiting the Tennessee Titans or any other NFL team soon.

The reason — Holt is currently out of the country on vacation, according to a league source, so barring the unlikely decision by Holt and his agent to sign somewhere sight unseen, it appears that the wide receiver will wait at least a few days before making his decision on the next stop of his football career.

Holt was released by the St. Louis Rams after 10 seasons there over the weekend, after the club did not wish to pay a $1.25 million roster bonus that would have been due on Tuesday.

The Titans are one of several clubs interested in taking a look at Holt, who had 64 receptions last year for the 2-14 Rams.

Tennessee is still in the market for at least one more wide receiver, having signed Nate Washington, but losing Brandon Jones to San Francisco. Also, the Titans have yet to do any negotiating with Justin McCareins, who is also an unrestricted free agent.

Behind Washington and Justin Gage, the Titans are completely inexperienced at the receiver position with little used Lavelle Hawkins, Paul Williams and Chris Davis available.

Other clubs who could have interest in Holt include the New York Giants, Baltimore Ravens and perhaps the Philadelphia Eagles.

CARR DRIVES AWAY: Whether the Baltimore Ravens promised Chris Carr the additional playing time he so coveted on the free agent market remains to be seen. But in any event, Carr’s signing with the Ravens for two years and $5 million on Saturday leaves the Titans with a hole to fill not only in their secondary, but more importantly, in the return game.

Carr helped the Titans lead the NFL in kickoff returns last season after coming over as a restricted free agent from the Oakland Raiders on a one-year deal.

As a cornerback, Carr would not have been more than the dimeback in Tennessee, something that restricted free agent Jarrett Bush might handle if the Green Bay Packers choose not to match the offer sheet the Titans signed him to on Friday.

In any event, the Titans are still in need of a return man. Rafael Little is a possibility, but the Titans are looking at all options, including recent visitors Justin Miller of Oakland and Mark Jones of Carolina.

OFFSEASON PROGRAM: The Titans' offseason program officially starts Monday. The workouts are voluntary, but the Titans expect close to 100 percent participation this season.

GO TITANS.

This is ridiculous typical of TN, they have a killer season and then, they they dismantle the team to sign a whole bunch of nobody's! Consequences a 7-8 season this year!

Torry Holt, will go to a team with a passing game, don't look for him in Nashville. Philly is the team for him to go it's a no brainer for him. He won't come here, we based our team on running the ball and that for him means he has to block for the run. He is to old for all that, so nope he won't come here..

Torry Holt? Yawn. We can do better.

You know i dont think we have dimantled our team, we havent gotton worse at any positions. I dont think losing Al wont effect us at all. We have plenty of players are leaders and young players who have shown they can play.We lost brandon jones, he was incosistant. I think Washington is a ovbious upgrade. I think we should have held onto carr, but or well.i think weve held intacked pretty well, and have another killer year.

Torry Holt is a shell of his former self. Pass.

It doesn"t matter if he is a "shell" of his former self. And we can do better???Besides Marvin Harrison(who is 37), what other receivers are out there in free agency?Torry Holt at 75% is better than any other receiver on our team. Nate Washington is good, but hes at best a number 2.With a veteran at QB and WR we would have good experience and leadership to help the others at that position(VINCE YOUNG).If Torry even considers the Titans we should make an offer and take him.Its an upgrade....plain and simple.

How many times must we make the same mistake before we learn!?! As long as we go out and fill our depth chart with a long-in-tooth free-agent receiver, we will never develop our drafted receivers. Stars are born on game day - not on the practice field. So, let Hawkins and whatever promising receiver that falls to us in the draft play. One temporary fix to a problem doesn't always deserve another!

"This is ridiculous typical of TN, they have a killer season and then, they they dismantle the team to sign a whole bunch of nobody's! Consequences a 7-8 season this year!"7-8 huh? Kinda tough when there are 16 games in the season.

He left because he was not getting enough playing time, but is not going to be any different in Baltimore. He will returned punts and kickoffs and back to the bench he goes!

Draft DJ Moore. Return man, offensive playmaker extraordinaire. Backup cornerback. Problem solved. Chris Carr had one exceptional game (that's all folks), it's time to upgrade!
