The Tennessee Titans hosted Pittsburgh Steelers free agent offensive lineman Trai Essex on Friday.
Essex, 27, was a third-round pick by the Steelers in 2005 out of Northwestern.
The Titans are searching for depth on the offensive line, especially at the tackle position with the departure of Daniel Loper to the Detroit Lions last week.
Essex has started four games in four years with the Steelers, all in his rookie season of 2005.
Another nobody coming to Nashville. hat is the problem with management in the organization, bringing a guy that has only played 4 games in 4 years. People wake up we can't win games or playoffs with just backups!!!!! I guess the only concern Bud Adams, has is to save money and be stingy..
Playing four games in four years isn't necessarily an indication that the player isn't any good. Sometimes there is enough depth in the starting lineup; sometimes it's a VandenBosch situation where the player wasn't healthy enough to play, but is capable once he's healed. Essex could be the next Tony Brown or Dave Ball. Let's give them a chance to evaluate the guy.
He is an offensive lineman sandburn. I wish they hueey up and schedule a visit with Torry Holt, so we can get something going..
O35, wasn't the same statements made about VB? I believe so. And all the talk about washed up Collins? Yeah, that too. The boy didn't play because they had other players. Heck, four games in four years? What kind of chance it that? jmo
035, did you even read the article? We're bringing in a backup because that's what we're looking for -- A BACKUP! He's an offensive tackle. We have two superb offensive tackles already. Roos and Stewart both signed long-term deals last offseason, they're not going anywhere. Essex would be a backup and would only be brought in for depth...since we just lost our backup tackle (Loper) this offseason. Please relax and take a deep breath before you start bashing the organization.
