Three Nashville-area high school football players are among the 472 players in the United States nominated for the 2009 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Cornerback Eric Gordon of Hillsboro, wide receiver Zach Rogers of David Lipscomb and offensive lineman Alex Bullard of Brentwood Academy all made the early list.

Of the 472 nominees, 90 will ultimately be selected and invited to play in the 2009 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. The 90 selectees will be officially announced and recognized this fall when the Bowl’s Selection Tour travels to cities across the nation, making scheduled stops to honor each player at pre-arranged events, including school pep rallies, school assemblies, football games, and special community events.

The game has become the main high school All-America football game and many top college prospects announce their college decisions during the game. The game will be on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009 at noon in San Antonio’s Alamodome and broadcasted live on NBC.
