Titans agree to terms with CB Williams

The Tennessee Titans agreed to terms with cornerback Cary Williams on a four-year contract Friday that includes a signing bonus of $47,700.

Williams, the Titans’ seventh-round pick from Division II Washburn, has the capability of making $1.2 million by the final year of the deal, thanks to an escalator clause regarding playing time.

Williams’ signing leaves the Titans with four draft picks unsigned.

YOUNG HONORED: Vince Young’s No. 10 jersey is among nine jerseys being retired by the University of Texas athletics department during the 2008-09 athletics calendar.

Other football players from the Longhorns whose numbers are to be retired are No. 22 for Bobby Layne and No. 60 for Tommy Nobis. The jersey of former Houston Oilers standout Earl Campbell (20) is also retired, as is the number of Ricky Williams (34)

Basketball stars Kevin Durant and Slater Martin, as well as baseball players Burt Hooton, Greg Swindell, Brooks Kieschnick and Scott Bryant will also have their numbers retired this season as well in Austin.

Young became a Longhorns football legend with his comeback performance in the 2006 Rose Bowl that propelled Texas past Southern California and to its first national championship since 1968.
