Titans call press conference; Kearse signing likely

The Titans have signed defensive end Jevon Kearse, a team source confirmed.

The team has called a 3:30 p.m. press conference to announce the signing.

Kearse, 31, was the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year for the Titans in 1999 after being a first-round pick.

He stayed with Tennessee through the 2003 season and totaled 47.5 sacks for the Titans in that time.

Kearse then left in free agency for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2004 and his career tailed off, as he totaled just 22 sacks and was benched toward the end of the season.

Let's hope we see Kearse as he was when he was with the Titans previously and not more of the Eagles-era Kearse.

He must have passed his physical. As long as they didn't over pay, I'm all for it. Welcome back, Freak, now I can get my #90 jersey out of the closet and swap up with my #10.

I don't know...he really hasn't been healthy other than that SB year.

You can bet that the price was right!

Probably, because no one else wanted him. To say he's past his prime is the understatement of the year.

I don't think you can look at him as an every down guy. With him and another guy or maybe some of the depth that we already have, we can replace the Odem and LaBoy numbers. I think its well worth the shot as long as we didn't pay too much.
