Safety Bernard Pollard has agreed to a one-year contract with the Tennessee Titans, the team announced Thursday.

The veteran safety has been a starter for three different teams since 2007. He spent the last two with Baltimore. Before that he played for Houston and Kansas City, which drafted him in the second round in 2006.

Renowned as a hard-hitter (his Twitter handle is @Crushboy31), he has as many career sacks (nine) as interceptions (nine). He also has forced 10 fumbles.

He has played in 105 career games with 85 starts.

Pollard becomes the second safety to join the Titans since the end of the season. Previously, the team signed George Wilson, who had been cut by Buffalo.

“Pollard is big, physical, experienced safety. He was a key contributor for the Super Bowl winners last year and his physicality and experience will help us,” general manager Ruston Webster said in a statement issued by the team. “Adding him and George Wilson to our safety group gives us options moving forward and greatly improves our depth there.”

The Ravens waived Pollard, their leading tackler last season, on March 13 to avoid paying a $500,000 roster bonus. He played much of last season with a cracked rib (he missed three games) but still finished wit 98 tackles, two sacks, one interception and six passes defensed.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh called the decision to release Pollard a "cap move, pure and simple."

Watch out, because running smack on Twitter means this is a player who can take his game to the next level. Where can I buy his jersey complete with personalized hashtag? I hope he does not get Tyrone Calico's old number. I can't cope with this change.
