The Tennessee Titans will play host to free agent safety Sean Jones of the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a league source.

Jones, 28, had 61 tackles and two interceptions for the Eagles, where he spent last season. His first five NFL seasons were spent with the Cleveland Browns. He has 16 career interceptions.

Jones played at the University of Georgia and also at Atlanta’s Westlake High School, the same school where former Titan Adam “Pacman” Jones played high school football.

Jones will be the third member of the 2009 Eagles to take a look at Tennessee. Defensive end Jason Babin visited last week, followed by linebacker Will Witherspoon, who signed a three-year, $11 million contract.

I really don't get it Post Tampa Newspaper: Jones' agent said Jones had a very productive visit in Tampa on Friday that he thoroughly enjoyed, but he wanted to see what the Titans had to offer before making a decision. All indications are the Bucs have made it known they'd like to sign him.

The difference in the two situations might be the opportunity for playing time. The Bucs can promise Jones a chance compete for a starting job, whereas the Titans presumably are looking for him to add depth in the defensive secondary. Tennessee has two established and well-regarded veterans starting at safety in Michael Griffin and Chris Hope.

Now Jones has pretty good stats, stats that are amost as good Kevin Kaesviharn, one of the Titans UFG hanging out. Including Kevin Kaesviharn we have Keith Bulluck, Ken Amato, Kevin Mawae and Alge Crumpler are the other UFA possible keepers hanging out there. White, Kearse and Harper are the other three I see not re-signing.

Of the restricted free agents Bo Scaife, Dave Ball, Tony Brown, Kevin Vickerson and Stephen Tulloch are out there and I suspect once the 2010 draft passes we will lose most if not all of these guys. I would like to see the Titans nail down most if not all of these guys. At the speed the Titans move they would do well re-signing one of these guys.

I just don't get wasting time running around to fill gaps or add depth at positions when if they don't re-sign some of the RFA players there will be huge gaps to fill if they get away. Outside of Scaife who is VY favorite receiver might be a minor loss considering even more emphasis on the run game in 2010 (reason for trying to sign Alge-for his blocking) .

Losing Brown and Tulloch would be huge. Ball and Vickerson has stepped up adding depth. Ball had 9 solo and 10 assists in the 11 games he played while Vickerson had 20 solo tackles in the 13 games played starting 2 of the 13. I'm not sure who the Titans will find walking the street with a "work for food" sign that could come off the bench any better than these two.
