For the second consecutive season, the Tennessee Titans will open the season with the Jacksonville Jaguars and close it with the Indianapolis Colts. They will also make their first Thanksgiving appearance in 11 years.

The Titans open at home with Jacksonville on Sept. 7 and close the year Dec. 28 in the Colts’ new stadium Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Titans also have a pair of national contests this season, playing the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 27) at Ford Field.

It will be the franchise’s first Thanksgiving Day game since a 1997 victory at Dallas when the team called Memphis home.

The other national game for the Titans is in primetime on Monday Night Football at home against the Colts on Oct. 27. It will be the first primetime game at LP Field since the 2004 season for Tennessee.

Last season, the Titans, who finished 10-6 and lost in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs, opened and closed the season on the road against AFC South rivals. The Titans will play host to the Jaguars in this season’s opener, but will still travel to Indianapolis for their regular-season finale for the second straight year.

Other home games for the Titans this season include Sept. 21 and Sept. 28 against Houston and Minnesota, respectively; Nov. 2 against Green Bay and Nov. 23 against the New York Jets. The Titans then come out of the Thanksgiving road game with a Dec. 7 home date with the Cleveland Browns. They close the home portion of their schedule when the Pittsburgh Steelers visit on Dec. 21.

As for other road games besides Thanksgiving Day and the finale with the Colts, the Titans travel to Cincinnati on Sept. 14 and go to old rival Baltimore on Oct. 5 before taking a bye week on Oct. 12. Tennessee then has a road game in Kansas City on Oct. 19. In November, the Titans have consecutive away games at Chicago on Nov. 9 and Jacksonville on Nov. 16. They will face the Houston Texans on the road on Dec. 14.

Now, all have to wait for is the IMMORTAL WORDS from George Plaster, "Grab a Pen and Paper and write down the Titans schedule while I give it to you, even though it has already been published on the Net, and will be in tomorrow's Tennessean, Nashville City Paper and USA TODAY."
