Titans receiver Kenny Britt involved in Nashville bar fight

Instead of receiving, Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt allegedly threw punches in a bar fight at a Broadway bar early Friday morning, according to police.

Metro police responded to a disorderly person at Club Karma, 305 Broadway, at 1:45 a.m. Witnesses told police 29-year-old Harold Pointer was drinking at the bar when Bradford Miser, 26, approached and punched Pointer in the face.

The two men wound up on the ground when Britt allegedly entered the fray, striking Pointer, police said. Security and a witness separated the men.

Miser told police he struck Pointer after being elbowed in the throat. Pointer chose not to press charges.

Britt was not present when police arrived.

Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher excused Britt from practice Friday while Fisher learned more about the incident. He added Britt wasn’t injured during the altercation.

Asked if it’s frustrating to hear of the late-night incident given the appearance that Britt had turned the corner on the field, Fisher said.

“Kenny is a good kid," he said. "He’s working hard. He’s really come on the last few weeks and I’d be surprised if he would put himself in a position to jeopardize that — but again, I’m still gathering facts.”

Fisher didn’t rule out benching Britt for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, and he refused to comment on whether other Titans players were with Britt at the club when the fight occurred.

No, I think he’s made strides, so let’s just wait and I’ll sort this thing out and I can comment on the big picture at some other point.

2 steps forward (TD in 4 straight games) and 3 steps back (this incident). Britt needs to be inactivated for this week's game and let Washington, Williams and the others pick up the slack.

Based on Britt's performance this week I hope he looks Harold Pointer up this next week and knocks him out cold.
