Titans sign Poole, Harris to shore up cornerback spot

The Titans have signed veteran cornerback Tyrone Poole and elevated Tuff Harris from their practice squad to shore up their thin ranks in the secondary.

To make room on the 53-man roster, the Titans placed both Eric King and Reynaldo Hill on injured reserve. King suffered a broken forearm in last Sunday’s game and Hill went out with a hip pointer.

The Titans had been thin at cornerback with only Cortland Finnegan and Chris Carr available for the game. Nick Harper was listed as doubtful with a foot injury after missing the entire week of practice.

Poole last played in the NFL in 2006 had has made stops with the Carolina Panthers, Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos, New England Patriots and Oakland Raiders in his career.

He was a first-round pick of the Panthers in 1995, taken 22nd overall, the same year the expansion team selected current Titans quarterback Kerry Collins with the fifth overall choice.

Poole, 36, worked out for the Titans last month with a host of other defensive backs as the team updated its emergency list.
