TSSAA volleyball: Ravenwood makes it look easy in reaching championship round

Ravenwood will play for the TSSAA Class AAA volleyball championship on Friday because it made quick work of Siegel in Thursday’s winners’ bracket final.

Its 25-23, 25-16, 25-20 victory was in stark contrast to its previous two matches (against Karns and Dobyns-Bennett) at the event, both of which went five sets.

The Raptors (47-8) will face Dobyns-Bennett (54-6) for the title in Murfreesboro.

Independence also made the final four but was eliminated in straight sets by Dobyns-Bennett (25-18, 25-17, 25-9).

In Class AA, Goodpasture lost to Page 25-16, 25-13, 25-19 in the finals of the winners’ bracket then was eliminated 25-21, 25-22, 10-25, 25-12 by Red Bank.

Page, which has won four state volleyball titles and was runner-up in 2009, faces Red Bank for the title.

Ensworth advanced to the Division II-AA championship with a pair of victories on Wednesday.

All championship matches will be played Friday at Middle Tennessee State University. The Division II-AA contest is scheduled for noon, the Class AA final is set for 4 p.m. and the Class AAA showdown for 6 p.m.
