The traditional “Vol Walk” at University of Tennessee home football games will start later than in previous years, the university announced Tuesday.

The procession will leave the Torchbearer one hour, 45 minutes prior to kickoff. The band’s march will begin following the completion of “Vol Walk.”

According to a release by the university, the pre-game schedule of events has been altered to create more excitement closer to the start of games.

“The passion of the Tennessee fans is incredible,” first-year coach Lane Kiffin said. “I want our players to be able to capitalize on that come game time. By moving the Vol Walk closer to kick-off, it will allow more of our fans to come out and support us and keep the players energy level up for kickoff.”

The new schedule takes effect with the 2009 opener, Sept. 5 versus Western Kentucky. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 11:21 a.m. (CDT).

For some Vols fans, counting backwards 1 hour 45 minutes could be a difficult task.

When you draw more fans than the Titans, you're bound to have a few nutty fans in the stands. Regardless, this will be a fun year for the Vols. They may not win much more than they did last year, but Eric Berry and the incoming freshmen class (not to mention Kiffin's antics) will make them fun to watch nonetheless.
