The University of Tennessee confirmed in a release Wednesday afternoon that the NCAA is investigating potential violations in the recruiting of football prospects.
The investigation centers on the actions of members of Orange Pride, a student admissions group.
“We are concerned about the alleged activities of some members of the Orange
Pride,” the statement, released by the Office of Communications, Marketing, Media and Internal Relations, said. “Both university and NCAA guidelines are a part of the Orange Pride¹s orientation and training. If those guidelines were violated, we will take
appropriate action.
“Because of federal student privacy regulations, we can¹t comment further.”
News of the investigation was first reported by The New York Times, which called the process “wide-ranging.”
I am just glad that Vanderbilt recruits the clean way. At least there is one good college in this state with integrity.
UT better cut their losses with this clown asap. This hire has Mike Debose written all over it. Chock it up as a one year mistake and go get a Jim Harbaugh or Kelly before ND scoops him up. Enoughs enough already..
Tennessee is headed for a disaster with Lane Kiffin. II really do not think he has any idea that there are rules and protocol. This fellow may wind up as the catalyst for the biggest debacle and humiliation that UT has ever had. Forget about whether he can coach and recruit. I just want him to shut his mouth and read the rule book.
You can rest assured that this came out of the jealousy
of either S. Car. or Florida. It's recruiting time and any
coach would love to have their competitors being looked
at in a negative way. Once recruiting is over with the
report will come back negative on the part of the UT
Admin. and coaching staff! So "Mamas don't you worry
about your little boys playing for the Vols".
I don't usually see things the same way as frank brown. This time I do. And I might say, debacle couldn't happen to more worthy bunch of folks.
