Vanderbilt’s Tiffany Clarke was named the Southeastern Conference women’s bsketball Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Clarke equaled her career-high with 14 points in addition to a career-high nine rebounds in a 75-74 victory at Quinnipiac on Thursday. She also blocked two shots and had a steal.

Through 10 games she is ninth in the SEC in field goal percentage at 51.6 and is 11th in blocked shots. She is the Commodores’ fourth-leading scorer at 8.2 points per game and third-leading rebounder at 4.8 per game.

It is the first SEC weekly award of her career and the second this season for VU. Senior Merideth Marsh was named Player of the Week on Nov. 30.

LSUs Allison Hightower and Mississippi State’s Alexis Rack were co-Players of the Week.

Vanderbilt (9-1) is ranked 18th in the latest Associated Press Top 25, down two spots from the previous week. Its next game is Sunday at home against Tennessee State.
