Vandy falls to Oklahoma; Lipscomb stuns Georgia

Oklahoma scored four runs in the sixth inning and rolled to an 8-5 victory over Vanderbilt on Friday in the NCAA Tournament in the Tempe Regional at Arizona State University.

The second-seeded Commodores [40-21] are one loss from elimination and will play the loser of Friday’s Arizona State-Stony Brook game Saturday afternoon.

David Macias led Vanderbilt with three hits, including a home run.

The Commodores have not lost the opening game of an NCAA Tournament regional since 1980.

Meanwhile, fourth-seeded Lipscomb shocked top-seeded Georgia 10-6 on Friday in NCAA Tournament play in Athens, Ga. Georgia won the regular-season Southeastern Conference championship.
