Tim Corbin was named Sports Person of the Year as Vanderbilt’s first trip to the College World Series produced multiple honors at the 14th Annual Celebration of Champions hosted by the Nashville Sports Council.

Pitcher Sonny Gray, the Commodores’ No. 1 starter and later a first-round draft pick by the Oakland A’s, also was honored as the Male Amateur Athletics award winner, and the program’s most successful season to date was named one of the top sports moments of the year.

Corbin was the choice for the night’s top honor over two other coaches, James Franklin (Vanderbilt football) and Rick Byrd (Belmont basketball), Indy Racing champion Dario Franchitti and Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne.
