VU's Stamper granted fifth season of eligibility

The NCAA has granted Vanderbilt offensive lineman Brian Stamper a fifth year of eligibility for the 2007 football season, the school announced Friday.

Stamper, a preseason all-Southeastern Conference selection a year ago, missed the final seven games of the 2006 season after undergoing back surgery.

His request for a fifth season was initially denied by the SEC based on the fact that he played in more than two games, but Vanderbilt appealed the case with the NCAA based on unique medical circumstances.
