Free agent wide receiver Nate Washington is scheduled to visit the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, a position that is even more of a need with Brandon Jones agreeing to a five-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday.
Washington's agent, Brian Overstreet, confirmed to The City Paper that Washington will visit Nashville and said on Friday that the Titans and Detroit Lions are the finalists for his services. On Saturday, the Lions also agreed to a deal with free agent 49ers receiver Bryant Johnson. It is not known how that might affect their interest in Washington.
Jones' agent Craig Domann confirmed that his client had agreed to a deal worth $16.5 million with $5.4 million in guarantees. Jones, a third-round pick of the Titans in 2005, posted a career-best 41 receptions in 2008 while working mostly as a slot receiver for Tennessee.
Washington had 40 receptions for the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers as their third receiver in 2008 behind starters Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes.
