The scenario was supposed to have Steve McNair mentor Vince Young and groom him as his eventual replacement for the Tennessee Titans.

When McNair and the Titans became locked in a contract impasse over his $23 million cap figure this past off-season, those plans fell through and the two sides went their separate ways with McNair being traded to the Baltimore Ravens.
