Percy Priest: Lake or LANDFILL? Percy Priest Lake’s 24 islands and 213 miles of shoreline are grossly polluted. The Corps of Engineers estimates as much as 200 tons of trash tops the islands, and a hundred times more has fallen to the bottom of the lake. So the Nashville Clean Water Project has organized the LARGEST WATER CLEANUP IN NASHVILLE HISTORY, with partners Bridgestone Americas, Waste Management, and Team Green outdoor adventure club. This FREE lake-wide cleanup is set to collect 20 tons of waste & debris left year-round by recreationalists.
When:
Saturday, May 3rd, from 8:00 am to 4 pm. You can choose several options for volunteering in three-hour increments, or help out all day long.
As a thank you for getting involved, all volunteers will be treated to a free concert by Grammy winning singer Kathy Mattea, playing songs from her new album "Coal".2 images / created on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 2:25 am
