Metro Police were called to Ewing Park Middle School yesterday morning after a seventh grader was found with an unloaded 22-caliber pistol, spokesperson for Metro Schools, Craig Owensby said.
Owensby said the 13-year-old boy told authorities he had taken the pistol from a cabinet in his home to show his classmates and the children told school authorities about the gun.
The student was arrested and within a few weeks will receive a zero tolerance hearing, Owensby said.
