By now you may have heard that a doubles tennis team from Knoxville Bearden High School was disqualified when a player yelled "Jesus Christ!" in a championship match in Chattanooga.
In the presence of court official Meg Bandy and Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) official Jan Genosi, Cameron Boyd and his partner Brandon Allan were disqualified after Boyd yelled the infamous words after losing serve to fall behind 5-3 in the third set to a team from White Station. No warning had been given to the team prior to the disqualification ruling.
Allan and Boyd threw their rackets after the ruling; Genosi walked off the court, according to The Chattanooga Times Free Press.
ESPN.com picked up the story Saturday.
Should we credit Genosi for interpreting the rulebook as it is written?
