Parker article model of ignorance
TO THE EDITOR:
I'm not often moved to write to protest e-mails about newspaper commentaries, but the piece you published Feb. 10 by Kathleen Parker, "Muslims let censorship take center stage in play" (p. 2), is beyond the pale.
Parker has a strong history of racism towards Muslims and Arabs. Criticisms of her in this area are well deserved. She flies completely under the radar of real experts on the Middle East who find her laughable. Her writings illustrate her ignorance quite clearly. I'm happy to provide details if you would like them. It is almost as if she willfully wishes to deceive Americans and instill hate against those who practice the second largest religion in the United States.
I'll be using your publication of her piece in class in the fall as an example of ignorance about and hate of Islam and Muslims and how both are maintained and furthered by local media outlets.
