Belmont University has released its 2003-2004 mens basketball schedule, and the Bruins will entertain Vanderbilt in the inaugural game at the new Curb Event Center.
The Friday, Nov. 21 meeting marks the third time in the last five seasons that the neighbors will compete in a Music City hoops contest. Vanderbilt has won the previous two meetings held at Memorial Gymnasium.
In addition to the visit by the Commodores, Belmont non-conference home schedule include games with defending OVC champs Austin Peay as well as Air Force. The remainder of the non-conference slate is highlighted by a trip to Navy to face coach Don DeVoes Midshipmen and a pair of high profile games in December. The Bruins will bookend the Christmas holiday with a December 17 game at the University of Memphis and a December 30 tilt with potential preseason top-10 foe Missouri.
With the addition of long-time Belmont rival Lipscomb, the Battle of the Boulevard will be renewed for the first time since the 1995-96 season when Lipscomb hosts the Bruins on January 28 at Allen Arena. Belmont will get their swing at homecourt advantage when the Bisons travel down the Boulevard to square off against the Bruins on February 13 in a regionally televised game on CSS.
