Gish, Sherwood adds to art department
Gish, Sherwood & Friends, a Nashville-based advertising agency, has announced the promotions of James Otto, Elvis Wilson and Chris Long, and the addition of Kathy Lambert.
Otto and Wilson, who have been with GS&F for seven years, have both been promoted from art director to senior art director. Otto works on the Indy Racing League, the Tennessee Education Lottery, and Asurion accounts, among others. He is a graduate of Father Ryan High School and Western Kentucky University.
Wilson works with Bridgestone/Firestone and other accounts. He is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University.
Long has been promoted from associate art director to art director. For more than a year with GS&F, Long has worked with the Tennessee Education Lottery. He is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University.
Lambert joins the GS&F art department as an art director. Before joining GS&F, she worked as a graphic designer with Crye-Leike and Cassetty Architecture. Lambert received her bachelor's degree from Pepperdine University. She works with Bridgestone/Firestone and The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation.
Walker joins Big Brothers Big Sisters
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee, the premier youth mentoring organization, has named Mary E. Walker as its new vice president of programs. She has a lifelong commitment to young people and brings a wealth of experience in child welfare.
Walker will be leading the agency's mentoring programs serving children in need of a positive adult role model with volunteers on a one-to-one basis.
Walker has previously served as general counsel for the Department of Children's Services; as a Davidson County juvenile court referee; and as general counsel for the Tennessee Board of Regents. She has additionally served on various community boards. Walker earned her master's in social work from the University of Tennessee and her law degree from UT College of Law.
Hudgins to lead Pacesetter Auction
ERA Pacesetter Partners has expanded to include a new auction company, Pacesetter Auction, and an auctioneer, David Hudgins.
Hudgins is well versed in the real estate and auction business. He previously owned a Coldwell Banker real estate office and was a regional manager for Coldwell Banker. He has owned his own auction and real estate company.
Hudgins is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. He earned his master's degree in management from Trevecca University.
Pacesetter Auction is located in Brentwood at the ERA Pacesetter Partners Brentwood office. Pacesetter Auction provides a professional auction marketing service. It conducts residential, commercial and land auctions.
Bailey joins Cumberland Consulting Group
Cumberland Consulting Group, a fast-growing information technology consulting company headquartered in Franklin, has named Michael Bailey as a consultant with the firm. He will be responsible for requirements definition, analysis and design of custom software for Cumberland clients.
Bailey is a certified public accountant who worked in the Assurance and Business Advisory Services group of PricewaterhouseCoopers prior to joining Cumberland Consulting Group. Bailey has also served as a valuation analyst and litigation consultant for The Horne Group.
Bailey earned a master's degree in international accounting and finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Michael also holds a bachelor's degree in accountancy and a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Mississippi's McDonnell-Barksdale Honors College.
National Distribution makes Seitz CEO
Nashville-based health care products distribution company National Distribution & Contracting Inc. recently announced the appointment of Mark T. Seitz as chief executive officer. Seitz will replace current president and CEO Jim Stover, who is retiring at the end of this year. Seitz is a partner with the Southeast regional law firm Miller & Martin PLLC, and has served as NDC's general counsel since 1993.
Seitz joins NDC to further the company's strategic development and build on its rapid growth. A native of Wilmington, Del., Seitz has practiced law in Nashville since 1986.
Aegis names Poteet a VP
Aegis has announced the appointment of Jason Poteet as its vice president of market operations. Aegis is the nation's leading health care business development company and a member of the Nashville Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame. In this new role, Poteet will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of client services as well as providing sales and technology training for the company's sales associates.
Immediately prior to joining Aegis, Poteet served as vice president of business development for ARx, a health care revenue cycle outsourcing firm. Poteet's 12-year career also includes serving as founder and CEO of Tailor Made Solutions, which provided custom software and Web-development services as well as contract, contract-to-hire and permanent placement staffing services to businesses.
Poteet holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Tennessee Technological University.

Bass, Berry & Sims PLC has announced that Christopher Y. Chi, Keli J. Stewart and Abigail Turner have joined the firm's Nashville Downtown office.
Chi has joined the firm's Corporate and Securities Practice Area. Chi graduated from Harvard University with a B.A. degree in history and literature. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. Before joining the firm, Chi practiced at O'Melveny & Myers LLP in Los Angeles.
Stewart has joined the firm's Litigation Practice Area. Prior to joining the firm, Stewart practiced at Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis PLLC and Boult, Cummings, Conners & Berry PLC. Stewart graduated from Maryville College with a B.A. degree in political science. She received her J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law.

St. Luke's Community House appoints Rathbone
St. Luke's Community House, an organization devoted to serving low income families in Old West Nashville since 1913, has announced that Tracy Rathbone will begin serving as its new development director Aug. 22, 2005.
Rathbone will be responsible for resource and volunteer development and public relations for St. Luke's. She will also develop and maintain relationships with donors and volunteers.
Rathbone joins St. Luke's after having served as the executive director for Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee since 2003. From 2001 to 2003, she was a life skills counselor at Father Ryan High School in Nashville.
Rathbone received an associate of arts in psychology in 1998 from Oxford College of Emory University in Atlanta. She received her bachelor of science in psychology from Georgia State University in 2000, and her M.Ed. in human development counseling from Vanderbilt University in 2002.
Sheridan joins staff at O'More College
Jay Sheridan has left the Nashville public relations firm McNeely Pigott & Fox (MP&F) to become vice president of institutional development at O'More College of Design in Franklin.
At MP&F, Sheridan specialized in marketing, media relations and grassroots organization, which included community and governmental affairs and the development of campaigns around high-profile legislative and local land-use issues, among others.
At O'More, Sheridan will oversee the marketing and development departments, and will focus his efforts on increasing the profile of the college, fund-raising and long-term strategic planning.
Arista taps Eichten for artist development
Arista Nashville announces the appointment of Dustin Eichten as manager, Arista Nashville artist development/marketing. Eichten will coordinate efforts with all RCA Label Group (RLG) departments to help strategize and implement overall plans for Arista artists Keith Anderson, Diamond Rio, Brad Paisley, Phil Vassar, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Rebecca Lynn Howard and Gypsy. Additionally, he will build and grow artist sponsorship opportunities, handle international marketing and work with video outlets like CMT and GAC.
Eichten joined RLG in 2002 as coordinator, sales and marketing. Prior to that, he spent two years as an inventory analyst for Best Buy. Eichten earned a bachelor's of marketing/management degree from the University of St. Thomas.
Catholic Charities promotes Babikir and Escue
Asrar Babikir and Jennifer Escue have been named program coordinators in the Refugee and Immigration Services Department of Catholic Charities of Tennessee. Both were previously refugee resettlement caseworkers in the department. Babikir was promoted to coordinator of the Refugee Social Services Program; Escue was promoted to coordinator of the Refugee Youth Program.
Babikir has been associated with Catholic Charities for 11 years, where she has provided case management services to newly arrived refugees. Originally from Sudan, she is fluent in English and Arabic and speaks French. She has a B.A. in sociology from King Saud University, Saudi Arabia. As coordinator of the Refugee Social Services Program, she is responsible for ensuring comprehensive delivery of social services to the agency's clients with a focus on employment and social adjustment services.
Escue is a graduate of Union University, Jackson, Tenn., with a B.S.W. degree. She is also a certified family wellness instructor. Since joining Catholic Charities in 2002, she has worked as care coordinator in the Bridges to Care program and as a caseworker providing resettlement services to refugee families through the Refugee Resettlement Program. In 2004, she helped develop a program targeted to meeting the special needs of refugee children and youth. As coordinator of the Refugee Youth Program, she is now responsible for planning and implementing Catholic Charities' after-school and summer programs for young refugees and for working with their parents to encourage school involvement.
Weber joins Nashville Commercial
Frank V. "Buster" Weber has joined Nashville Commercial Real Estate Services (NCRES) as senior broker for industrial properties.
Weber brings more than 25 years of experience in Nashville to NCRES. Most recently with ProLogis, he has been the leasing and property manager for Space Park South since 1980 and has expanded ProLogis' presence in Nashville to include 5.4 million square feet through both acquisitions and development.
With a concentration on industrial properties in the south part of Nashville, Weber began his real estate career in 1979 with the Equitable Life Insurance Company in its real estate department. He has also worked for Meisel & Cohen of Rockville, Md., managing its Nashville properties.
Weber graduated from Father Ryan High School and attended Memphis State University.
Bank of America promotes Mason
Bank of America recently announced the promotion of Steve Mason to senior vice president, premier market executive for the Tennessee Region.
Mason has been with Bank of America for more than five years and oversees the premier banking component for the bank's Global Wealth and Investment Management line of business. Mason began his career with Bank of America in 2000 in Tampa, Fla.
Mason holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Kentucky University and an M.B.A. from Belmont University.
Centre for Health Care Planning appoints Upchurch
J. Kenneth (Ken) Upchurch has become president and chief executive officer of The Centre for Health Care Planning, a Nashville-based firm that provides space needs assessment, planning and programming services to support health care construction projects.
Upchurch, who graduated from the University of Tennessee's School of Architecture and is a member of the American Institute of Architects, has 22 years of experience in health care planning and design.
Upchurch succeeds Mary Huston McLendon, who is retiring as the firm's CEO, and Donna Finney, who is retiring as the firm's COO. Both McLendon and Finney, The Centre's owners since 1995, will continue to consult with the firm.
Crawford to head Black Business Expo
Shawntaz Crawford, 24, a graduate of Tennessee State University (TSU), has been appointed executive director of the Nashville Black Business Expo (NBBE), the city's largest urban tradeshow.
Crawford is a native of Atlanta. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in art with a minor in English from TSU. While at TSU he was the president of several organizations including Student Government Association, College Democrats and the Collegiate 100 Black Men.
Crawford has also studied and taught graphic design, digital media and marketing at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y. In addition to his academic success, Crawford has developed many successful marketing campaigns and promotional strategies for various clients in the Nashville area.
A3 Marketing adds LaRoy
A3 Marketing announces the addition of Gary J. LaRoy as vice president of institutional marketing. In this role with A3 Marketing, LaRoy will be responsible for expanding the client base for educational institutions, churches, health care providers and other institutional clients. LaRoy was previously director of enrollment for the Aquinas College Primetime adult degree program.
LaRoy is a double graduate of Belmont University with a B.B.A. in marketing and an M.B.A. He also holds a graduate certificate in marketing along with an M.A. in communications.
