LEBANON — Scott Dixon successfully defended his Firestone Indy 200 title at the Nashville Superspeedway on Sunday. The No.9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing driver crossed the finish line 2.2400 seconds ahead of Williamson County resident Dario Franchitti.
The victory was Dixon's second-in-a-row, second of the season and eighth of his IndyCar career.
On Saturday night rain caused the postponement of the race, which is rare in IndyCar racing. The last race to be postponed to another day in the series was in June 2000 at the Texas Motor Speedway.
Danica Patrick, Sam Hornish Jr. and Marco Andretti completed the top-five.
