State Rep. Rob Briley has been located on the gambling floor of a Tunica, Miss. casino today after going missing Wednesday, Metro Police reported.
A lieutenant from the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office talked with Briley and found that Briley “appeared coherent and not in distress,” Metro Police’s Don Aaron said in a statement.
Briley was told that his family and friends were worried about him and would like him to make contact.
But Briley “did not say or do anything that warranted him being taken into custody,” the statement read.
David Briley, Rob’s brother, had filed a missing person’s report late Wednesday night after Briley had checked out of rehab.
After leaving the treatment facility at Cumberland Heights, Briley (D-Nashville) rented a 2008 red Ford Mustang, according to the missing person’s report that David Briley filed.
Rob Briley called David Briley and his cell phone was tracked to Memphis. Rob Briley “made overtones” of being suicidal, according to the police report.
The report also says that Metro police advised Memphis Police that Briley “wanted to go to Key West, (Fla.).”
Memphis police were sent to evaluate Briley.
According to the police report, Rob Briley was upset over an article in the Nashville Scene printed Wednesday.
The Scene article accused Briley of marital infidelity.
Briley checked into rehab after being charged with two felonies and several misdemeanors resulting from two separate incidents in DeKalb and Wilson counties. Briley allegedly was driving drunk.
