Vanderbilt sophomore linebacker Brandon Bryant, who started three games this year, plans to transfer to another school, VU officials said Thursday.
The 6-foot, 230-pound Bryant requested and was granted his release from Vanderbilt after his playing time dwindled during the second half of the 2007 season. He started three games early in the season but eventually lost the starting weak-side linebacker position to sophomore Patrick Benoist.
Bryant, a product of Cincinnati's St. Xavier High, finished the 2007 season with 30 tackles, one sack and two quarterback hurries.
It's unknown where Bryant will transfer. He and Commodores coach Bobby Johnson were not available for comment Thursday.
