Vanderbilt is off the the best start in school history at 13-0 after posting a 97-73 victory over Iona on Monday at Memorial Gym.
A.J. Ogilvy scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the 15th-ranked Commodores, while Shan Foster added 20 points.
Vanderbilt is one of six unbeaten Division I teams. North Carolina, Memphis, Kansas, Washington State and Ole Miss are the others.
Gary Springer led Iona (5-9) with 17 points, and Devon Clarke added 15 points and four rebounds for the Gaels.
The Commodores used a 10-0 run to open the second half to stretch a 46-41 lead to 56-41 and forcing Iona coach Kevin Willard into calling a timeout. VU's Jermaine Beal scored five points in the run.
A 3-pointer by George Drake pushed Vanderbilt's lead to 67-46 witth 12:31 left.
The Commodores return to action Thursday night at home against Rice, then host Massachusetts on Saturday before opening SEC play next week.
