Pinnacle adds specialty team
Pinnacle Financial Partners has established a specialty in relationship development and executive relocation and hired the most experienced team in the Nashville banking industry to meet the unique needs of the growing number of companies and individuals moving to the Nashville area.
Pinnacle’s three relationship development and executive relocation veterans have a combined 75 years of experience in Nashville’s financial institutions:
Amy Joyner, senior vice president, with 34 years of experience in financial services and specializing in relationship development and corporate/executive relocation, Doris Lynn, with more than 34 years of financial services and relocation experience, and Nicole Dunigan, with 10 years of experience in financial services, specializing in mortgage lending and executive relocation.
Joyner was most recently senior vice president and manager of the business development and relocation division of First Tennessee Bank. She was previously manager of a similar department at AmSouth Bank. She started her banking career in Nashville in 1974 as one of the first women to participate in First American’s management training program.
Over the years, she has helped facilitate many of Nashville’s significant corporate relocations, including BMI, Tennessee Titans, HCA, Dollar General Corp., Louisiana Pacific and Clarcor Corp.
Lynn was also most recently with First Tennessee’s business development and relocation division, specializing in helping healthcare companies relocating to the area. She was a vice president in First American National Bank’s relocation division and an assistant branch manager for the company’s Hillsboro Village office. She has worked in relocation services for a leading real estate company and spent 11 years in various positions for Third National Bank.
Dunigan, who began her career in mortgage banking at AmSouth, was the exclusive mortgage banker for the Tennessee Titans. In an effort to communicate the intricacies of banking and provide a networking forum for African American businesses in the Nashville area, she co-founded Coffee Talk Nashville, a monthly coffee-talk styled gathering of business and community leaders. The meetings are hosted at African American businesses.
Equitable Trust announces new hires
Equitable Trust Company, the Nashville-based trust and investment management firm, has announced that three veteran financial executives have joined the company.
Parker W. Thomas and Royal H. Fowler III , who each hold the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, joined Equitable’s investment management staff and are vice presidents and senior portfolio managers. W. Keith Keisling, who holds the Juris Doctorate degree and Certified Trust and Financial Advisor designation, joined the trust administration staff as vice president and trust officer.
Thomas previously spent nearly 20 years with SunTrust Bank, where he was a senior portfolio manager and managed a SunTrust Bank-sponsored mutual fund. He began his investment career at Motorola, Inc., where he was a pension investment officer. Thomas is a graduate of Principia College and received a master of business administration degree from Wayne State University.
Fowler is also from SunTrust Bank, where from 2003 to 2007 he was a vice president and senior portfolio manager, working with private client portfolios. He began his investment career in 1983 as a floor trader for O’Connor & Associates on the Chicago Board of Trade. Fowler holds a bachelor of science degree from Philadelphia College of Textiles & Science.
Keisling previously was vice president and trust officer at First Tennessee Bank and SunTrust Bank, both in Knoxville, specializing in trust and estate administration. He received a bachelor of science degree from Tennessee Technological University and the Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Tennessee.
Roberts named DVL president
DVL Public Relations & Advertising announced recently that Ronald Roberts has been named president of the company. Previously, Roberts served as chief operating officer.
John Van Mol, who previously held the title of president, will remain chairman and chief executive officer. Tom Lawrence will continue to serve as vice chair. Both are founding partners of the firm.
As president, Roberts will take on a more prominent leadership role in the agency, while he continues to oversee day-to-day operations. He also will continue his client service responsibilities.
Roberts has been with DVL since 1992. He is certified in crisis management by the Institute for Crisis Management. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and a master’s of education, both from Middle Tennessee State University. Before joining DVL, Roberts worked at MTSU, serving as the assistant director of public relations and as an instructor in the College of Mass Communications.
Gullett Sanford names Gallagher new member
Gullett, Sanford, Robinson & Martin has announced that Mary Taylor Gallagher has been elected to membership in the law firm.
Gallagher is a member of the firm’s litigation group, where her practice focuses on transportation and employment-related litigation. She joined the firm in 2001 after being admitted to the Tennessee Bar.
Gallagher is a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law and the University of Georgia. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association and the Nashville Bar Association, where she serves on the board of the Young Lawyer's Division.
McMakin named operations director
The Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business announced that it has named Pat McMakin director of studio operations at Ocean Way Nashville Recording Studios. Pat, a 1978 alum of Belmont’s Music Business program and founding Chair of Belmont’s Music Business Advisory Board, will take the helm the first week of March.
With more than 30 years of successful music industry experience as a recording engineer, record producer, and songwriter, McMakin has worked with a wide variety of artists including Ray Charles, Dolly Parton, George Jones, Brooks and Dunn, Lonestar, Brenda Lee, N’Sync and countless other artists, producers and songwriters. Joining Ocean Way Nashville after 25 years as studio manager, producer and engineer at Sony Tree Studios in Nashville, McMakin brings both expert industry experience and intimate knowledge of Belmont to his new role.
Tennessee Works program adds Stack
Megan Stack has been named program coordinator and worksite developer for the Tennessee Works program at Catholic Charities of Tennessee, Inc. Stack previously was a disaster relief case manager at Catholic Charities, assisting Hurricane Katrina evacuees in Middle Tennessee.
Stack is a 2003 graduate of Tulane University with a B.S. degree in psychology. In 2006, she graduated with a masters of science in social work from the University of Tennessee College of social work. She joined Catholic Charities in 2006 as a Caring Choices counselor, working with birth parents and with couples wanting to build their families through adoption. In 2007, she joined the Hurricane Disaster Relief team at Catholic Charities, which assisted more 2,700 evacuees with relocation between 2005 and 2007.
Tractor Supply promotes pair
Joel A. Cherry has been promoted to senior vice president, general counsel and Matt McGrath has been promoted to vice president, divisional merchandise manager at Tractor Supply Company.
Cherry joined Tractor Supply Company in 2006 after serving as general counsel and corporate secretary at Nashville-based Gibson Musical Instruments. He has more than 25 years of senior management experience, including transactional, corporate, litigation and intellectual property expertise.
McGrath was formerly senior buyer/feed & equine. He joined Tractor Supply Company in 1997 as an associate buyer. He is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti.
Smith Seckman Reid announces promotions
Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. (SSR), an engineering design and facility consulting firm, has promoted Mike Bernard, James “Bo” Butler, George Johnson, Steven “Rusty” Ross and Jim Seckel to team leaders.
Ross and Seckel are responsible for the overall management and direction of multi-million dollar projects for SSRCx, a wholly owned commissioning subsidiary of SSR. Ross holds PE, LEED-AP and CxA designations, and was previously director of commissioning services for SSRCx, a position he has held since 1999. He received a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University.
Prior to his new role, Seckel was senior manager of commissioning services for SSRCx. He is PE, CBCP and LEED-AP certified, and is experienced in the areas of sports, recreation and educational facilities. He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
As a team leader in the sports division, Johnson is in charge of the management of sports facility projects, including arenas for collegiate and professional athletics. Previously he was a senior project manager, focusing on mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. He received his bachelor’s degree from Nashville State Technical Institute.
Bernard and Butler are team leaders in the civil engineering division.
Previously, Bernard, PE, was a project engineer, with particular expertise in the design and administration of civil, water and wastewater projects. He received a master’s degree in environmental and water resources engineering from Vanderbilt University. Butler, PE, was formerly a project engineer, specializing in water and sewer line design. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Vanderbilt University.
