Former Tennessee Titans receiver Justin McCareins will visit with the team, which is in need of wide receivers, on Thursday.
McCareins, 29, was a fourth-round pick of the Titans in 2001 and stayed with the club for three years before being traded to the New York Jets for a second-round draft pick.
McCareins, who dropped into a reserve role in his final seasons with the Jets, was released just before the start of free agency.
McCareins excelled in Mike Heimerdinger’s offense in Tennessee and then for one season in New York in 2005.
His best year with the Titans came in 2003 when he caught 47 passes for 813 yards and seven touchdowns. His best year with the Jets was in 2004 as he caught 56 passes there.
“They said they were interested in bringing him in and giving him a physical and letting him see a lot of familiar faces,” agent Cliff Brady said. “We’ll see where it goes from there.”
The Titans will also host defensive linemen Marques Douglas and Ellis Wyms on Thursday.
