Vanderbilt junior third baseman Pedro Alvarez and senior outfielder David Macias received first-team all-Southeastern Conference recognition Tuesday.
It was the third year Alvarez earned All-SEC honors and the first for Macias.
Senior outfielder Dominic de la Osa, junior shortstop Ryan Flaherty and senior second baseman Alex Feinberg received second-team recognition.
In addition, redshirt freshman reliever Russell Brewer was named to the All-Freshman team, while Macias was named to the newly created All-Defensive team.
Alvarez missed 23 games this year and came back to hit .338 with seven homers, 14 doubles and 25 RBI in 32 contests. He hit .400 with five homers, 10 doubles and 18 RBI in 21 SEC games. The New York native has 47 career homers, two shy of the school record.
Macias led the Commodores with a .366 batting average with seven homers, 15 doubles and 33 RBI in his senior year. The Woodlands, Texas, native hit .347 with six homers, nine doubles and 23 RBI in SEC play and was error free in 58 chances in the outfield.
De la Osa finished the regular season with a .309 average, 10 homers, 14 doubles and 45 RBI. He batted .322 in league play with four homers, 10 doubles and 26 RBI, while also stealing 13 bases in 15 attempts. The Miami native became the school’s all-time leader in hits and doubles this year and has the fourth most homers in his career with 46. It marked his second straight year earning All-SEC honors.
Flaherty batted .318 with a team best 13 homers and 56 RBI to go with 10 doubles and nine stolen bases in 10 attempts. He hit .328 with nine homers and 30 RBI in conference, earning all-league honors for the second straight year.
Feinberg finished the year second on the team with a .324 batting average with two homers, 12 doubles and 33 RBI. The senior from Orinda, Calif., batted .308 in league play and suffered a broken jaw in the middle of conference action that caused him to miss two SEC games. He is a two-time Academic All-District selection and also represented the Commodores on the SEC Baseball Community Service Team for his various charitable endeavors.
Brewer led the Commodores with five saves while posting a 4-2 record with a 3.38 ERA. He led the team with 22 appearances and recorded 49 strikeouts to just eight walks in 42.2 innings pitched.
Vanderbilt takes on Florida at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the first round of the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala.
