PLAY OF THE DAY: Cornerback Marquice Cole made a leaping interception in team drills of a Kerry Collins deep pass that was intended for Jamie Petrowski. Cole was actually covering another receiver on the play, but when the ball floated and Petrowski could not reach it, he cut in front and made the grab.
TOPIC OF CONVERSATION: Titans coach Jeff Fisher said he will make it a point to get Lavelle Hawkins into the wide receiver rotation a little more this week against the Oakland Raiders. Hawkins played sparingly Saturday night against St. Louis, much less than the other young receivers like Paul Williams and Biren Ealy.
WORTH NOTING: For the second consecutive day of practice Quinton Ganther ran as the third-team running back, dropping Chris Henry to the fourth unit in most drills. Ganther enjoyed a standout game with 115 yards on eight rushes with two touchdowns against the Rams..
INJURIES: Fisher said he hasn’t ruled out any players for Friday night’s game with the Raiders, though tight end Dwayne Blakely (groin) is doubtful and still probably a week away. Others out of practice Tuesday included Keith Bulluck (rest), Kyle Vanden Bosch (rest), Jevon Kearse (soreness), David Stewart (rest). Jacob Ford was out with leg tightness, while Cary Williams (knee), Roydell Williams (ankle), Nick Harper (concussion) and Rob Bironas (groin) continue to be out. Fisher did indicate that Roydell Williams has a chance to play.
KEEP AN EYE ON: If Harper cannot go, Fisher said he has entertained the notion of starting Eric King in his place at left cornerback Friday night. Reynaldo Hill came off the bench to replace Harper when he was hurt on the first play from scrimmage Saturday night.
