JACKSON – Catcher Brian Dirheimer had a home run and double as Trevecca Nazarene scored 11 runs in the bottom of the eighth and defeated Martin Methodist 17-6 [1] in a TranSouth Conference baseball tournament elimination game on Tuesday.
Dirheimer, a senior, was 5-for-6 with two runs scored and four RBIs for the game.
As a team, the Trojans had 22 hits – nine of them in the eighth, when they sent 17 batters to the plate. Chris Lowe, Nathan Wright, Aaron Bree and Chase Birdwell all had three hits.
Trevecca (34-22) fell behind 4-0 after one inning and led by just one (6-5) before its big inning.
The Trojans will play another elimination game 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
