Nashville Predators defenseman Ryan Suter scored the game-winning goal and had an assist Wednesday as the United States defeated Finland 3-2 in a IIHF World Championships quarterfinal matchup.
Suter scored with 5:41 to play in the second period and capped a stretch of three U.S. goals in 3:48. Suter also had the primary assist on the first goal of those goals, scored on the power play by Dustin Brown with 9:29 left in the second.
Finland had gone in front 1-0 with a goal in the opening minute of the second. Predators’ goalie Pekka Rinne made 32 saves for Finland, which was eliminated.
