A proposal, sponsored by Beth Harwell (R-Nashville), that would make more students eligible for charter schools was deferred by a House panel [1]Wednesday.
The proposal seeks to open charter schools to all "at-risk students" in systems that have at least 12,000 enrolled children.
The bill, HB2146, [2] was deferred to the House Education Committee until May 20.
