OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Marina Alex made four straight pars early on the back nine but shot a second-round 9-over [1] (81) at the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship on Wednesday.
The Vanderbilt freshman, who was an individual qualifier for the event, is tied for 98th in the field of 126 at 16-over with two rounds to play. She was tied for 79th after the first round when she shot 7-over.
Her birdie on the third hole – a 49-2yard par- 5 – was no enough to overcome six bogeys and two double bogeys.
UCLA’s Maria Jose Uribe is the individual leader [2] at 3-under following a second-round 66. UCLA also leads the team standings [3] at 13-over.
