During a routine vehicle search, officers at the Charles Bass Correctional Complex in Nashville discovered a large amount of drugs, weapons and cash in the possession of visitor, the Tennessee Department of Correction said in a release.
Gary Carringer, 50, of Jacksboro, Tenn., was at the prison to visit an inmate on June 20.
While searching Carringer’s vehicle, officers found four knives, various prescription painkillers, marijuana, methamphetamine, alcohol and more than $1,400 in cash.
He was arrested by TDOC Internal Affairs agents and has been charged with introduction of contraband into a penal facility and possession with intent to distribute.
Carringer was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail with bond set at $75,000.
