The Nashville Predators signed 28-year-old defenseman Nolan Yonkman to a one-year contract, the team announced Monday.
Yonkman has spent the past three seasons with the Predators’ AHL affiliate in Milwaukee. He has appeared in 50 NHL games (all with Washington) over eight professional seasons.
He originally was a second-round draft choice (37th overall) by the Capitals in 1999.
Under the terms of the two-way deal, he will earn a $500,000 salary in the NHL, a $115,00 salary in the AHL.
A physical presence at 6-foot-6, 245 pounds, Yonkman has racked up 296 penalty minutes in 206 games for Milwaukee, He also has scores six goals and registered 24 assists.
