Angel Manuel Rivera, the 22-year-old Metro Police have charged in the deadly July 9 home invasion in Hermitage, is scheduled to appear in Criminal Court on Friday.
Police say Rivera fatally shot James L. Wade inside Wade's Hermitage Ridge home.
Rivera surrendered [1] at police headquarters Monday on a criminal homicide arrest warrant issued last Friday. He declined to be interviewed by detectives and is being held without bond, police said.
Police say witnesses identified [2] Rivera as the man who shot James L. Wade, 23, to death last week. Witnesses also said the two apparently had been childhood friends.
Rivera and three accomplices allegedly stormed Wade's 908 Hermitage Ridge home shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday and held Wade and three friends at gunpoint, police said. Two of the accomplices then began going through the house.
Witnesses said that when Wade stood up to confront Rivera, Rivera fired, hitting Wade in the upper body. He died shortly after arriving at a hospital.
In addition to the criminal homicide, Wade is charged with three counts of aggravated assault for holding the three other persons in the home at gunpoint, and violation of probation.
