The woman who was stabbed early Wednesday morning inside Ken’s Japanese Restaurant at 2007 Division St. died Thursday night from her injuries, police said.
Jacqueline Whitaker, 43, was allegedly stabbed at 4 a.m. by Eugene Brownlow, an employee of the restaurant. Brownlow told police he stabbed Whitaker when she attempted to steal money from the register.
Police say Brownlow, 56, invited Harold Williams, 49, to the business for drinks after hours. Whitaker accompanied Williams to the restaurant where the incident occurred.
Whitaker attempted to leave the restaurant but collapsed outside. She was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she later died.
Charges may be filed pending a review by the District Attorney’s Office.
