An oncoming car hit and dragged Centennial High School freshman Claire Dickerson at about 7 a.m. as she attempted to cross Liberty Pike on her way to school.
WSMV reports [1] that the 14-year-old was dragged about 50 feet down the road. She was not on school property or at an intersection when she was hit.
Williamson County Schools' spokesperson Carol Birdsong said Dickerson walked through a line of stopped cars and was hit as the stepped into the opposing lane of traffic.
Franklin Police said she was conscious when they arrived. She was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she was in critical condition Thursday night.
The 59-year-old driver will not be charged, police said.
