The convicted felon accused of selling the gun used to kill former Titans quarterback Steve McNair was indicted Wednesday by a federal grand jury on a federal firearms charge.
Adrian J. Gilliam Jr., 33, was indicted for being a felon in possession of a firearm
The La Vergne man told police he sold the 9 mm handgun [1] to Sahel "Jenny" Kazemi for $100 two days before McNair was murdered in his downtown condo.
Police have indicated that the transaction was not illegal, but the possession offense is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
Kazemi shot McNair and then turned the gun on herself in the early hours of July 4, police said.
Gilliam, who was working as a car salesman at the time of his arrest, has been behind bars since July 17.
Gilliam had been out of prison seven years since serving time in Florida for 1993 conviction on murder and attempted robbery charges.
