A convicted robber on probation for robbing a convenience store earlier this year is back behind bars facing similar charges, according to Metro Police.
Gerald Robinson, 50, was arrested Thursday in connection to two convenience store hold-ups. A tip to Crime Stoppers led to the arrest.
Police say Robinson allegedly entered the Mapco at 2827 Smith Springs Road on Tuesday at 2:30 a.m. and told the clerk he didn’t want to hurt him over a few dollars. He took cash from the register and left.
Approximately one hour later, Robinson walked into the Exxon at 4198 Murfreesboro Pike and indicated he had a weapon, police said. The clerk refused to open the cash drawer and Robinson fled empty handed.
Both clerks positively identified Robinson as the robber. Police said he admitted his involvement during interviews.
Robinson is charged with aggravated robbery and attempted robbery. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.
Robinson, who has previous theft and felony cocaine convictions, was convicted in June of robbing a Hamilton Church Road convenience store in January, police said. He was sentenced to probation.
