Metro Police detectives are pursuing "strong leads" in Tuesday morning’s fatal shootings [1] of convicted felons James Truitt, 24, and Artrell Wade, 21, inside a residence at 815 N. Second St.
Truitt and Wade may have been gambling when at least two suspects entered the home and ultimately opened fire just before 1 a.m., police said, adding that robbery has not been ruled out as a motive.
Truitt received six-year sentences for felony cocaine convictions in 2006 and 2009.
Wade received a four-year sentence for a felony cocaine conviction in 2009 and a two-year sentence for an aggravated assault-related conviction in 2008.
Both men also have gambling convictions and lengthy arrest histories.
The incident remains under investigation.
Anyone with information concerning the homicides is urged to contact East Precinct detectives at 862-7525 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
