Adrian Gilliam, 33, pleaded guilty to felony gun charges in federal court today for possessing a 9mm pistol as a felon — a weapon later used to kill former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair.
Gilliam was arrested after telling federal agents he sold the gun to Sahel "Jenny" Kazemi, 20, who police say shot herself and McNair on July 4, the day after she bought the pistol for $100.
By possessing the weapon after serving time in Florida for attempted armed robbery and second degree murder in 1993, Gilliam could face a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
When Gilliam’s daughter, who isn’t more than 4 years old, caught sight of her shackled father shuffling into the courtroom through a side entrance, she shouted, “That’s my daddy!”
“We’re going to go in there right now,” Gilliam’s mother-in-law replied. Neither she nor his fiancé would comment. “But you can’t say nothing to him.”
“Why?”
“Because Daddy can’t say nothing right now.”
Gilliam will be sentenced Dec. 18, and, though unlikely, he may not be released until the little girl is a teenager if he receives the maximum sentence.
