Metro Police are working to establish a motive for the overnight murder of parolee David Hurst inside his mobile home at 203 Old Trinity Lane in the Talbot's Corner area.
Hurst, 35, was killed by a gunman or gunmen who apparently entered the mobile home through the unsecured front door, according to police. He was shot multiple times including once in the head around 1:30 a.m.
His 45-year-old girlfriend was sprayed with mace. The woman told police she was asked where the money was, but it is not known if anything was actually taken from the mobile home.
Hurst registered with the Metro police department as an ex-convict in 2005.
Records reflect he has myriad criminal convictions, for offenses including aggravated robbery and multiple burglaries and thefts, out of Knox and Union counties in East Tennessee. He received an 18-year sentence in 1993.
Police are working to develop a description of the suspect or suspects.
Detectives are pursuing several leads in the case. Citizens with information about the murder are urged to contact East Precinct Investigations at 862-7525 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
