Williamson County law enforcement agencies are investigating an overnight shooting in which police shot an armed robbery suspect, Franklin officials said.
Officers were in pursuit of a man who had allegedly robbed the Kroger pharmacy at 595 Hillsboro Road at gunpoint when the suspect crashed his motorcycle near the intersection of Hillsboro Road and Fulton Greer Lane just before 10 p.m. Tuesday.
The suspect got up and pointed a gun at Franklin Police and Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies who then shot the suspect, police said.
The suspect, described only as a 27-year-old white male, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was in surgery early this morning. His condition is not known.
The gun pointed at officers, along with one discovered in the Kroger parking lot, was later determined to be fake. They were both the Airsoft brand of highly detailed firearm replicas designed for recreational use.
As a matter of protocol, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was requested to investigate the shooting.
