Metro Police have identified the victims of a crash Sunday night on Interstate 24 that claimed the life of a Smyrna woman and injured three members of her family and another passenger.
Kevin Fleet, 41, of Mandarin Court in Smyrna, faces one count of vehicular homicide and four counts of vehicular assault stemming from a crash Sunday night on Interstate 24 east at Old Hickory Boulevard near the Rutherford County line.
Police say Fleet was traveling east on I-24 in a Ford F-150 when he slammed into the rear of a Chevrolet Tracker at 8:10 p.m.
The impact knocked the Chevrolet off the road where it flipped and landed on its roof. An adult passenger and a 4-year-old were thrown from the small SUV, police said.
Malindy Raymer, 45, of Arnold Drive in Smyrna, was one of the passengers who was ejected. She was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died Monday morning.
Police identified the four other persons in the Tracker who were also transported to Vanderbilt as:
Terry Raymer (driver), age 24, of Arnold Drive in Smyrna;
Ontiveros Maurico (front seat passenger), age 23, of Stroop Lane in Smyrna;
Steven Raymer (rear seat passenger & Terry Raymer’s son), age 4;
Brandy Raymer, 25 (rear seat passenger), also of Arnold Drive in Smyrna.
Initial reports stated one of the victims was pregnant, but police did not indicate which person or whether that information was correct.
Police said Fleet received minor injuries. He smelled of alcohol and appeared to be intoxicated.
A blood sample was obtained at a hospital for alcohol and drug analysis by the TBI Crime Laboratory.
Fleet’s bond is set at $75,000.
